Science Film Festival 2007
The Friends of the House of Sciences Association (Asociación de Amigos da Casa das Ciencias), in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Innovation (Consellería de Industria e Innovación), Department of Culture of A Coruña (Concellaría de Cultura da Coruña) and the Scientific Museums of A Coruña (Museos Científicos Coruñeses), celebrated Science Week 2007 with different activities grouped under the name “Mostra de Ciencia e Cinema”. The Festival served in this special edition 0 to commemorate the XX anniversary of the Prism Awards, given since 1988 by the Science Museums of A Coruña. The activities took place from Monday, November 12, to Friday, November 16, as indicated in the program that follows.
November 12 to 16
16:00 to 19:00 Continuous projection of the scientific documentaries that won the House of Sciences Prism Awards. Place: Domus, Sala Leonardo da Vinci. Free entrance. Limited seating.
November 14
19:00 Projection of the documentary “Transplants” (“Os transplantes”), 1988 Prism Award. Place: Domus, Sala Leonardo da Vinci. Free entrance. Limited seating.
19:30 Conference-debate on the advances in the field of transplants by Doctor José Cuenca, adjunct physician of the Cardiac Surgery Unit of the Juan Canalejo Hospital Complex. Place: Domus, Sala Leonardo da Vinci. Free entrance. Limited seating.
November 15
20:30 Preview of the documentary “Arctic Tale”, production of National Geographic and Paramount Classics, directed by Sarah Robertson and Adam Ravetch. It is an epic adventure that explores the vast world of the North Pole through two characters, a polar bear cub, Nanu, and a walrus calf, Seela, in their magical trip from helpless infancy toward maturity. The film was presented in A Coruña four months before the premiere in commercial theaters. Place: Teatro Rosalía de Castro. Free entrance. Limited seating.

19:30 h: Conference-debate on the scientific findings of the Hubble Space Telescope given by D. Javier Armentia, astrophysicist, science teacher and director of the Pamplona Planetary. Place: Domus, Sala Leonardo da Vinci. Free entrance. Limited seating.
22:00 h: Session of Urban Astronomy headed by Agrupación Astronómica Io. Observation of the firmament with the naked eye and of celestial objects using a telescope. Place: Plaza de Maria Pita. Free.
